Newly Postnatal
Round of Applause, you're a Mamma bear now!
So much focus in early motherhood is on your baby, but you're special too!
Needing to be a morning lark, a night owl, and some form of bleary-eyed Pigeon the rest of the time feels like it will go on forever! Quite often kinks and aches and pains develop from the repetitive nature of feeding, changing, winding, and settling small babies. There is a fabulous series of gentle movements to ease out some of those kinks, 'Back to Feeling Good', which will help your body to move with more ease. Give them a try, repeat them as often as you like, sneak a few in during tummy time!
When things start getting back on an even keel, you're getting some sleep, a sort of schedule settles in, it’s time to start on your 'Mojo Finding Mission' package.
It’s heartening to reconnect with your body, part by part, figure out where your strengths are and what needs some work. We're all individuals, everyone will take something different from this workshop series, you will know what's normal, what's not, what's common, and ideas for repairing and/or monitoring. There's an accompanying exercise video for each workshop to find, strengthen and rock each area!
Finding your way as a new Momma Bear
(This will ease you into and guide you through Stage 1 & 2.)
I remember the feeling very well of everything being a bit squishy, soft but kind of tight too with achy pain in your back, neck, shoulders, and hips, even your thumbs and wrists bother sometimes. I also recall wondering 'will I ever get back to normal?', and feeling jealous of women out running in the sunshine, wishing it could be me!
Understanding what has changed in your body
(This will help with Stages 3 & 4.)
If you feel your pelvic floor squeezy contractions and breathing are going well and you're walking happily 30-60 mins a day, you can start your mojo finding mission, your Momma Bear honey!
You can expect to get a little bit sweaty and to start strengthening your muscles.
The frame on which our muscles act is really important, as are the core muscles that hold us together. I will show you how to get set up right and address any underlying areas like rib flare, shallow or reversed breathing pattern, stiff inflexible feet, calf, and hamstring muscles which all show up during pregnancy.
The Daddy Bear Blockbuster Basics!
1 hour pre-recorded video with self-care body hacks for Dads with new babies, how to assist Mama Bear to the max, and encouragement to 'Do your thing'!

"I attended Aileen's ante- and post-natal pool classes in my first pregnancy and was so disappointed that they couldn't run due to the pandemic restrictions in my second pregnancy. I was delighted when she ran a new online post-natal course that could be done from home. The classes brought my attention back to my body and identified the areas that needed the most work after having my second baby. Aileen has a great skill in getting you to think about and focus on repairing areas that you won't even have been aware need attention. Her tips in activating and strengthening your pelvic floor are incredibly helpful and her experience as both a physiotherapist and mother really come to the fore throughout the classes. It was great to connect with other new mums virtually in a relaxed online environment and be reminded that all of our bodies and recoveries are different! A few months on, I'm still using Aileen's exercises throughout the day and feel that my body is more resilient having taken part in the course."

“I attended Aileen’s aqua pregnancy classes and also an online post-natal recovery programme. Both were excellent! Aileen is knowledgeable, approachable and makes the exercise interesting and fun! It was great to have such expertise and advice along the way during pregnancy and post-pregnancy and to be able to ask any question about my body and receive helpful and expert advice. The pregnancy classes gave me great tips and ideas for labor, which as a first-time mum was really helpful. The post-pregnancy class gave me so much information about my body and recovery that I never knew about! The stretching and exercises could be incorporated into everyday life, which was great, as with a new baby I really didn’t see how I could fit it into the day! Overall I’d highly recommend Aileen’s classes.”
